Welcome to round 1 of OI’s Drinking around the world: Epcot edition. This is the most comprehensive collection of information and photographs available anywhere to guide you around World Showcase in search of the perfect thirst quencher.
Since Epcot has so much to offer for the festive traveler, this tour has to be split up across four posts. Use the navigation links at the top and bottom to move your way around Epcot’s World Showcase. Remember too that you can click on any image to view it full-screen.
Well, let’s get this party started. Get yourself to Epcot, skip through FutureWorld, take a left, and head to the Mexico Pavilion…
Mexico
This tour starts out with a bang, and that’s because the very first stop might possibly be the single best drinking spot in all of Epcot (and perhaps all of Orlando). The name of this unique venue: La Cava Del Tequila, and it is located inside Mexico’s large pyramid-shaped building. As the name suggests their specialty is tequila, and they have more varieties than you can shake a stick at (please don’t bring a stick into the Mexico Pavilion). Not ready for shooters? Try the cucumber margarita, the perfect complement to the blazing Orlando sun.
The second stop in Mexico brings us back outside and around the corner to the margarita shack. If you’re not into sweet stuff, they also have Dos Equis on tap. And don’t forget to say hi to Donald at the character meet-and-greet right next to the margarita shack!
Make sure you navigate yourself around World Showcase and all the way back to the Mexico pavilion. No “drinking around the world” tour is complete without a ride on the Grande Fiesta Tour. And yes, it must be done at the end of the tour–no cheating and going on the ride before you leave the Mexico Pavilion for the first time!
Norway
Norway doesn’t quite offer the variety of watering holes that Mexico has, but it’s got grass on its roof and the coolest ride in town: Maelstrom. Get ready to face the frigid arctic sea and the tricky trolls with your favorite beverage from the Norway snack cart.
Then step inside Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe around the corner for your next indulgence:
You’ve had a few drinks now, so should we help wake you up a bit with a little sticker shock? Grab your next drink and head into the Puffin’s Roost gift shop. Step all the way back to the area just where guests exit the Maelstrom theater, and take a look at the prices for the Dale of Norway apparel. They’re shocking, even by Disney World standards! (Hehe… I said puffin’s roost.)
China
The China Pavilion is rather conservative with its contribution to Drinking around the world: Epcot edition. In fact, you’ll need to make your way to their quick-service restaurant, Lotus Blossom Cafe, to find what you’re looking for. Surprisingly, the beer they have on tap is American, but you can get exotic with a beer out of a bottle.
Africa, Germany, and Italy are next…
